QUESTION: What is your understanding of socio-cultural
perspectives?
ANSWER:
Socio-Cultural perspective, in my mind, is a theory and an approach to
understanding the reasons why humans behave in a particular manner. It explains the character and personality
development of individuals belonging to a social group based on their historical
background, their way of life, and the unique and peculiar circumstances in
their particular environment. It also
describes the behavioural patterns of a social group and the mental processes
of individuals in that group. The
socio-cultural theory tries to understand the reasons how a group and/or
individual acquire distinct mental, spiritual, emotional and even physiological
characteristics in a given temporal period.
This is how I understand socio-cultural perspectives.
